What do you do with a 10 yr old manipulator?

Last night I allowed my boys to go to the Baptist church gym to meet their friends. Something they normally aren't allowed to do because of our own church's biblestudy night. Wouldn't you know it... the 10 yr old kid from down the block caused a scene and got all the boys kicked out and the floor hockey guys refused to allow them to use the phone to call their mothers. The result? This manipulator who had taunted and made fun of the 6 boys of which my two were part of all night, started fighting with the boys and it ended up with the police stopping by my house. sigh.... it seems that we just can't get rid of this kid. It's a long long story but this boy has been violent at our home and has been banned which started this whole deal going.

Tonight is youth. I'm going to the church and we will play some games and then I'm not sure what we'll do but I'm going to have to find something to do with them soon..... any advice is greatly appreciated!

Starting the day out being lazy.... it's nice sometimes!

This morning, Derk had to work. I talked to him around 7ish or so and he told me there was fresh coffee out in the kitchen which now is outside my bedroom door and why didn't I get some and snuggle in with my new book for awhile? That's exactly what I did. The radio was full of a female political leader in Pakistan being assinated this morning and so I shut it off. Soon I was immersed in my mystery novel and enjoying a nice cup of coffee. Something I NEVER do. It was heaven!

The kids began getting up slowly around 8:30 or so and we all tried a new cereal I bought yesterday called French Toast Crunch and it's really yummy although probably NOT so nutritious but it was a rare treat for them. Larissa brought me mine in bed and I stayed there till 10:00! SHAME ON ME lol, Just reading and eating and talking to Derk on the cell at different times. He's in Morden already and he only had 28 stops there today anyway so his day should be done before noon I'd say.

Anyway, the house is kind of ransacked from all the searching for missing cell phone and mp3 player. The player's been gone since early fall, and the cell phone only a day but we found that one under the couch. There's clean laundry in piles being sorted at the moment except the kids sorting keep disappearing to play, and the kitchen needs some dishes put away and a tidy-up. Laundry needs to be started in the washer and dryer again and of course my new room has a stack of files that I need to go through and put away in the filing cabinet as well as organize the desk now that we've moved it back down here. The chill room is taking shape and gets nicer and nicer as my things get moved out. It will take a few more days before all is back in order around here, but we aren't schooling this week and I need to do church book work among my own studies and some other projects. I'm also hoping to fit in some scrapbooking too.

Tonight there's no biblestudy. Sunday we go to Morden to church to take services there and also next Sunday so it will be an exciting time for us all. But all of that, means I get a bit of a reprieve from doing some things around here so that is an added blessing of time!

Well, guess it is time to rally the troops and get things going around here!

Welcome To Heidi's House!

Well, I decided it was time to move into a new blog-house and so here I am. It's going to be a new year soon and I thought I'd get things all ready for blogging in 2008 and so here goes. Please stop by often. You will find honesty about my life, my children, and our adventures in homeschooling as well as everyday things that happen to us. You will soon find that our lives are NEVER normal around here especially with 8 children between the ages of 2-17.

This year Kyla-Dawn will graduate from homeschool. She's not sure about her future just yet. Joshua is 15 and in Grade 10, Michael is 12 almost 13 and in grade 8/9. Larissa is 9 in grade 4 and Jenaya is 6 in grade 1/2.

Our twin daughters Autumn-Rose & Ember are 4 and kind of in pre-school. Then we have our golden boy..... Zachary is 2. He's just getting into the "NO" stage but still he's definitely much more sweet and even tempered than any of the other kids were at that age.

Events lately? Well..... let me see here!
Our van motor siezed up December 5th two years to the day after we bought it and then it was a race to find another van to borrow, someone to fix it and a motor for it. So now it's getting fixed. We were lucky to get someone to do it for half the price we were quoted originally. We still got to have Christmas although at first it looked like we were not going to get to. Anyway, we had a wonderful Christmas.

We had our first church Christmas Concert on the 23rd and it went exceptionally well. We were very happy with it and my oldest two kids cooked a feast like you've never seen for afterwards. It was awesome! Everyone raved so that made us pretty happy.

Today is Boxing Day and Derk's home for the day. We are going to go to the city to do a bit of shopping.

As to interesting things? Well..... we spent Christmas day moving everyone around. We've made almost stall like bedrooms upstairs in the back half of the house. That's where the kids are staying. Our bedroom in the front, we've moved out of and made into a "chill room" for the kids because our living room is too small for all the boys usually hanging around our place all the time and I just can't handle the noise and interruptions all the time. So now the front half of the upstairs will be a "chill room" as named by the kids where they have a futon couch, table, Nintendo and monitor and computer etc. Their rooms only have personal items and clothing in them other than beds.

Us? well we have moved into the bedroom on the main floor just off the kitchen and although it's less than half of our other room, we like it. We're going to have to block one of the heaters off though as it's incredibly HOT in there!

Well, time to get these kids in high gear. Jenaya woke up this morning throwing up and still is. She has tiny red spots almost measles like on her face so not sure what that's all about.... yippee...
